Humanoid Robot Dialog Project
This project investigates the possibilities of human-humanoid dialog. The project has been carried out during 3 months of work at the Robotics Perception and Learning Laboratory (RPL), part of the KTH University in Stockholm, Sweden. Taking advantage of the high interaction skills of the Pepper robot, the software developed allows sustained open-domain communication. The code aims to give the robot basic conversation abilities; this includes a speech recognition module, a conversational engine to formulate the answers, and speech synthesis. The dialogue is purposeless, which means that no task is pursued except a normal and pleasant interaction (this is the objective). It can be used as a fall-back system and also for task-oriented interaction; often, the counterpart tends to ramble or test the IQ of the robot by asking general questions.
